The $31,385 starting price applies to the entry-level EV3 Light and places the new model well below Kia’s other battery-electric vehicles. It costs roughly $8,000 less than the EV6 and nearly $10,000 less than the Niro EV, which is expected to leave Kia’s lineup after the 2026 model year.

According to Kia, DC charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 29 minutes with the 58.3-kWh battery. The larger 81.4-kWh version requires about 31 minutes under suitable fast-charging conditions.
For home or destination charging, an 11-kW Level 2 connection can complete a comparable 10%-to-80% session in around five hours with the smaller pack or approximately seven hours with the larger battery.
The EV3 will also support vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality. Owners can draw electricity from the traction battery to operate compatible appliances, tools and other external equipment.
EV3 GT Adds More Performance
Kia will distinguish the range-topping EV3 GT with substantially more power and software-based performance features.
The GT is rated at 288 hp and 345 lb-ft of torque, making it the strongest model in the range. It will also feature simulated gear changes and electronically generated driving sounds designed to create a more interactive experience.
Similar technology is already used by Hyundai in its performance-focused Ioniq 5 N. Rather than adding mechanical gears, software changes the vehicle’s acceleration response and sound to imitate some characteristics of a conventional performance car.
These features give Kia a way to broaden the EV3 lineup beyond efficiency-focused commuter versions while using the same compact crossover format.
Kia Needs the EV3 to Expand Electric Sales
The EV3 arrives as Kia’s U.S. electric vehicle sales remain relatively modest compared with its overall business.
