Polestar 4 SUV Adds Rear Window and More Space

Polestar Brings Back a Conventional Rear Window

The most visible change is at the rear of the vehicle.

When Polestar introduced the original Polestar 4 in 2023, it removed the rear glass entirely and relied on a roof-mounted camera connected to a digital interior mirror. The company said that arrangement helped improve passenger space and allowed for a different roof design, but the feature also became one of the model's most discussed characteristics.

The new SUV takes a more traditional approach.

It includes a rear window and standard conventional rear-view mirror, giving drivers a direct view behind the vehicle. Buyers who prefer the camera-based system can still choose the digital rear-view mirror as an option.

The change gives the SUV a more familiar layout without completely removing the technology introduced with the original car.

A Taller Body Creates More Interior Room

The Polestar 4 SUV shares the Geely SEA platform used by the coupé-style Polestar 4, but the body has been redesigned around greater practicality.

A more upright rear section and straighter roofline increase usable space behind the second row. Polestar lists up to 1,665 liters of luggage capacity with the rear seats folded, while total storage across the front and rear compartments reaches 1,680 liters.

Rear passengers also receive an additional 2.5 centimeters of headroom compared with the coupé.

Full-length roof rails are standard, and the vehicle supports a dynamic roof load of up to 100 kg, making roof boxes or other travel equipment easier to accommodate.

The panoramic glass roof extends toward the rear of the cabin. An optional electrochromic version allows passengers to adjust the transparency of the glass through the vehicle's center display.

Two Versions Use the Same 100-kWh Battery

Every Polestar 4 SUV uses a 100-kWh battery, with buyers choosing between rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.

The Rear Motor model produces 200 kW, or 272 hp, and is rated for up to 630 km WLTP. Polestar lists a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.

The Dual Motor version raises output to 400 kW, or 544 hp, with 686 Nm of torque. It reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and offers up to 600 km of WLTP range.

DC fast charging is rated at up to 200 kW, while AC charging can reach 22 kW in selected markets.

Customers can also choose a Performance package that includes ZF active dampers, Brembo brakes, 22-inch wheels and Pirelli P Zero tires.

V2L and Camping Mode Expand Utility

Polestar is also adding features aimed at outdoor and everyday use.

Vehicle-to-Load capability will be introduced across the Polestar 4 range, allowing the vehicle to supply up to 3.3 kW of AC power through an approved adapter. That could support small appliances, tools or camping equipment when external electricity is unavailable.

A new Camping mode is designed to maintain a controlled cabin environment while the vehicle is parked.

The infotainment system is also being updated. Google Gemini will replace Google Assistant as the built-in voice AI, with rollout planned across 22 countries and 16 languages.

Together, these additions move the SUV toward a more versatile role than the original fastback-style model.

In Germany, the Rear Motor Polestar 4 SUV starts at €57,900 including VAT. The Dual Motor version begins at €65,900, while the Performance configuration starts at €76,300.

Production is taking place in Busan, South Korea, where manufacturing began during the second quarter of 2026.

Polestar plans to begin customer deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The launch arrives as the company tries to build on stronger recent sales. Polestar reported 30,423 retail deliveries during the first half of 2026, a record for the brand.

For the Polestar 4 range, the new SUV adds a more conventional rear view, additional interior flexibility and practical features without changing the core electric platform.
