The new Audi A2 e-tron will arrive in Germany in late 2026 as Audi’s most affordable electric model, offering up to 401 miles (646 km) of WLTP range. The compact EV combines rear-wheel drive, three battery sizes, bidirectional charging and a starting price of €38,200.

Compact Size With a Long Wheelbase
The A2 e-tron measures 4.32 meters, or 170.1 inches, long, placing it in the compact-car segment. Despite its relatively short body, it uses a 2,764-mm wheelbase, matching the larger Audi Q4 e-tron and creating more cabin space than its exterior dimensions might suggest.
The car is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB 31 architecture, which also underpins models such as the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and Cupra Born.
Audi has focused heavily on aerodynamics. In its most efficient configuration, the A2 e-tron achieves a 0.24 drag coefficient through features including active cooling openings, front air-management elements, covered underbody sections and optimized wheel designs.
The efficiency package for the 188-hp version reduces rated energy consumption to 12.8 kWh per 100 km, according to Audi.
Three Battery Sizes Cover Different Range Needs
Audi will offer the A2 e-tron with 52-kWh, 61-kWh and 84-kWh battery packs.
The two smaller batteries use lithium iron phosphate chemistry, while the 84-kWh pack uses nickel-manganese-cobalt cells. Audi says the smaller LFP batteries use a cell-to-pack design, while the larger NMC battery retains a module-based structure.
Four rear-wheel-drive power outputs are planned at launch: 168 hp, 188 hp, 228 hp and 322 hp.
The longest-range model combines the 84-kWh battery with the 228-hp motor and reaches up to 646 km WLTP, or 401 miles. The 322-hp version is rated for 630 km, while the 188-hp car reaches 515 km and the entry model 423 km.
Audi does not currently plan an all-wheel-drive A2 e-tron. Engineers considered it, but expected demand in this segment was judged too limited to justify the additional development.
Charging Speeds Depend on the Battery
DC fast-charging capability varies significantly across the lineup.
The two 84-kWh versions support up to 183 kW DC and can charge from 10% to 80% in around 29 minutes.
The 61-kWh model reaches 105 kW, with a claimed 10%-80% time of 26 minutes, while the smallest battery supports 100 kW and can complete the same session in about 24 minutes.
All versions support up to 11 kW AC charging.
The A2 e-tron also includes bidirectional energy functions. Vehicle-to-Load can provide up to 3.6 kW to external equipment, while Vehicle-to-Home can use the car as part of a household energy-storage system with compatible equipment.
V2H is initially planned for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Interior Focuses on Space and Everyday Use
Inside, Audi uses an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 12.8-inch infotainment screen. An augmented-reality head-up display will also be available.
The center console includes magnetic smartphone charging at up to 25 watts, while physical buttons and rollers remain on the steering wheel.
Audi is introducing a modular Fidlock mounting system for accessories such as cupholders, cable bags and cargo straps. Three attachment points are standard in the center console, with additional cargo-area mounting points available.
Cargo capacity ranges from 396 liters to 1,336 liters, depending on rear-seat position. A small 13-liter front trunk provides extra storage for charging equipment or smaller items.
All versions are also expected to support towing loads of up to 1,600 kg, including the entry-level model.
German Pricing Starts at €38,200
Orders for the Audi A2 e-tron are scheduled to open in Germany in fall 2026, with first deliveries expected in December.
Pricing starts at €38,200 for the 52-kWh model. The 61-kWh version begins at €41,900, while the 228-hp model with the 84-kWh battery costs €48,900. The 322-hp version starts at €51,200.
Standard equipment includes navigation, a reversing camera, wireless phone charging, Level 2 driver-assistance functions and bidirectional charging capability.
Audi currently has no announced plan to sell the A2 e-tron in the United States. For Europe, its combination of compact dimensions, long-range options and relatively accessible pricing positions it as an important entry point into Audi’s expanding electric lineup.
