Analyst forecasts for Tesla’s third-quarter 2026 deliveries currently range from about 422,000 to 482,000 vehicles, showing unusually wide uncertainty ahead of the company’s October 2 report. Even the highest major estimate would remain below Tesla’s record Q3 2025 result of 497,099 deliveries.
Analysts Remain Far Apart on Tesla Deliveries
Tesla is scheduled to report its Q3 2026 production and delivery figures on Friday, October 2. As of September 29, estimates from major financial firms differ by more than 60,000 vehicles.
JPMorgan currently has the highest estimate at 482,000 deliveries, after lowering its earlier projection of 516,000. Barclays expects 475,000, while UBS estimates 470,000.
Forecasts become more conservative further down the range. StoneX projects 446,500, Goldman Sachs expects 435,000 after previously forecasting 490,000, and Cantor Fitzgerald has the lowest estimate at 421,758.
The median of those six forecasts is about 458,000 vehicles. Other consensus measures fall within a similar but still broad range, with Bloomberg-based estimates around the mid-460,000s and Visible Alpha figures closer to the low-to-mid 450,000s.
Recent Forecasts Have Moved Lower
Several analysts have reduced their expectations during September as new regional sales data became available.
JPMorgan cut its forecast by 34,000 vehicles, while Goldman Sachs lowered its estimate by 55,000. StoneX also remains below the broader Wall Street consensus, citing softer demand in major markets.
China was one area of weakness during August. Tesla recorded 50,047 retail sales in China, down 12.4% year over year, according to China Passenger Car Association data. The decline marked the third consecutive month in which Tesla’s Chinese retail sales fell from the previous year, even as exports from the Shanghai factory increased.
Analysts have also pointed to weaker U.S. demand as one reason for lowering their quarterly forecasts. The combination makes Q3 difficult to estimate because Tesla can shift production between domestic sales and exports across multiple markets.
Every Major Estimate Trails Q3 2025
Tesla delivered a record 497,099 vehicles in the third quarter of 2025, including 481,166 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
That creates a challenging year-over-year comparison. JPMorgan’s 482,000 forecast would represent a decline of roughly 3%, while the six-firm median near 458,000 would be approximately 8% lower. Cantor Fitzgerald’s estimate would imply a decline of about 15%.
The 2025 comparison was also affected by the timing of U.S. clean-vehicle incentives. The federal New Clean Vehicle Credit was no longer available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025, giving eligible buyers a deadline at the end of last year’s third quarter.
Most current Q3 estimates are also below Tesla’s 480,126 deliveries in Q2 2026. JPMorgan is the only one of the six listed forecasts that would result in sequential growth.
Q2 Shows Why the Forecast Range Matters
Recent analyst accuracy adds another layer of uncertainty.
Before Tesla reported its second-quarter results, the company-compiled sell-side consensus called for 406,024 deliveries, with a median estimate of 408,609. Tesla ultimately reported 480,126 deliveries, exceeding the compiled consensus by more than 74,000 vehicles.
That unusually large gap makes the wide range of Q3 forecasts more significant. Analysts are working with regional registration data, factory output estimates and other market indicators, but Tesla’s global shipment patterns can make quarterly totals difficult to predict precisely.
Tesla has not yet published a company-compiled Q3 delivery consensus similar to the one it released before Q2.
The official October 2 report will therefore settle two questions at once: whether Tesla remained near its strong Q2 delivery level and how accurately analysts captured demand following a weaker August in several important markets.
